Traditionally, Office Administration was viewed as sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day, cataloguing, taking notes, organizing paperwork and archives and managing corporate seals and official documents. Nowadays however, as Vietnam integrates and grows internationally, more diverse business operations, more proactive office workers are vital in handling more comprehensive jobs, integrating many separate tasks and rejuvenating business administration.
An Office Administrator is responsible for a diverse set of administrative tasks, including:
- Reception
- Managing office stock
- Scheduling in-house and external events
- Promoting and presenting the image of the company
- Information systems management
- Supervising administrative staff
- Managing agendas/travel arrangements/appointments etc. for upper management
Dynamic DTU students meet increasing business demands
The DTU Office Administration major provides a comprehensive knowledge to satisfy the requirements at government and social agencies and private companies. Office Administrators must have:
- Ability to make, supervise and implement plans
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Solid knowledge of office procedures and office management software
- Spoken English and translation skills
In developing an Office Administration major, DTU thoroughly investigated how many students should be trained each year to meet market demand, and to what level. “Office Administration has recently become a very popular major, especially for dynamic, self-confident and diplomatic candidates, with organizational, management and administrative skills,” said Mr. Nguyen Huy Tuan, Vice-Dean of Business Administration. “In these times of global integration and rapid economic development, the arrival of foreign companies and nongovernmental and social organizations has resulted in more attractive and highly-paid career opportunities in administration and office work. However, to fill these positions, employees must graduate from a recognized training program to work professionally and efficiently long-term.”
