The curriculum is informed by that at Pennsylvania State University, one of the top fifty universities in the US for economics and business administration (according to U.S. News 2022). Program objectives

The primary objective of the program is to train research students that are highly qualified in theory and practice and have the ability to conduct independent and innovative research, to develop new knowledge, and to contribute to practical advancements in accounting & auditing. In addition, the program provides research students with an in-depth theoretical foundation and with the skills and methodologies needed to succeed in business and academic environments in the following optional specializations: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Public Sector Accounting, Banking Accounting, Tax Accounting, and Financial Law.

Admission requirements

Applicants must hold either a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude or higher or a master’s degree. They must demonstrate research experience through either: a master’s thesis as part of a research-oriented program; authorship of a scientific paper or report related to the intended research field that has been published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal or the proceedings of a specialized scientific conference or workshop within the 36 months preceding the application date; or at least 24 months of work as a lecturer or researcher at an educational institution or a science & technology organization. They must hold a foreign-language proficiency certificate at least at level 4 under Vietnam’s six-level framework by the Ministry of Education & Training.
