The logo of Duy Tan University was designed more than 20 years ago by the famous artist Buu Chi. It looks like an image of a book unfolded in the hands of a reader, representing the importance of knowledge in every society. Taking a closer look at the logo, it is made of one single, ceaseless brush-stroke, and it also looks like waves weaving in strong winds. This said, the logo goes along well with the quote that President Le Cong Co usually mentions: “Life long study!”. Morever, the logo design indicates that the achievement of learners is usually paid by sweat, tears and even blood (as depicted in the best-seller novel of “Blood Tuition” written by the influential writer, Nguyen Khac Phuc about President Le Cong Co and his experiences during the Vietnam War. Interestingly, the logo is also embedded with Vietnamese cultural featurers because it has the pattern of the square-sized seal of ancient dynasties in Vietnamese history. In all, the logo of Duy Tan University presents the wish to “innovate” or “recreate” the educational system of Vietnam even in the face of bureaucratic obstacles or out-of-date practices.
