Key Dates in DTU’s History

15th August 1992

The Board of Foundation was established. Mr. Le Cong Co was appointed Head of the Board.

 

15th September 1993

A decision to establish the Council of Private University in Central Vietnam Foundation (later known as Duy Tan University) was issued by MOET.

 

11th November 1994

Duy Tan University was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

 

23rd January 1995     

MOET appointed Mr. Le Phuoc Thuy as the Chairman of  the Board of Director and Mr. Le Cong Co as the first Rector of DTU.

 

1st November 1996

Mr. Le Cong Co became the Chairman of Board of Directors and Professor Dang Van Luyen was appointed Rector of DTU.

 

9th March 2007

DTU was among 30 universities and colleges approved to offer the transition programs.

 

1st May 2008

DTU officially established a partnership with Carnegie Mellon University in the USA.

 

16th June 2008

DTU’s Rector decided to change to a credit-based education system.

 

16th January 2009

DTU was authorized to offer the postgraduate training programs.

 

May 2009

DTU was put on the MOET list of nationwide universities for regular educational quality assessment.

 

17th January 2010

DTU officially established a partnership with Penn State University in Business and Accounting studies.

 

10th Febuary 2010

DTU received Third-class Labor Medal by the government for high achievements in education from 2004 to 2009.

 

1st September 2010 

Duy Tan University was awarded a special Emulation Flag from the Ministry of Education & Training on the occasion of the closing 2009 – 2010 Ceremony academic year.

 

 7th April 2011

A Signing Ceremony for Academic Cooperation between California State University (CSU) and DTU was officially held at the DTU campus.

 

29th October 2011

On 29th October, 2011, MOET held a review conference to grant Flags to institutions with high achievements in 2010-2011. DTU was the only private university to receive this award.

 

10th November 2011

On DTU’s 17th Anniversary (11/11/1994 – 11/11/2011), DTU was awarded a Government Emulation Flag for achievements in the 2009-2010 academic year.

 

9th February 2012

A signing ceremony for the 2+2 partnership program between Appalachian State University (ASU) and DTU was held at DTU Campus. The previous program “Transfer Programs” will be renamed “Studying Aboard for International Degrees”.

 

24th March 2012

Miss Nguyen Tran My Linh came first in the “2012 Elegant and Talented Student Contest”. This was the first time that a DTU student had won a local beauty contest.

 

4th July 2012

DTU became an official member of CDIO, at the 8th annual CDIO Conference held at the University of Queensland.

 

14th July 2012

Miss Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang won the 2012 Miss Danang Pageant. She was also one of the ten finalists in the 2012 Miss Vietnam Pageant and received the prize for the most talented contestant.

 

17th September 2012

DTU students were ranked 7th in the final round of the “2012 - Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools” (IDEERS 2012) competition, held in Taiwan. This was the first award for Vietnamese students in an internationally recognized competition. The team designed models of earthquake shelters.

 

18th November 2012

Mr. Le Cong Co was named “Teacher of Excellence” by the Mr. Bui Van Ga, Deputy Minister of MOET. This was a noble award, as Mr. Le Cong Co has devoted his life to the improvement of DTU and to the national education system generally.  

 

27th November 2013

From 27th to 29th November 2013, DTU hosted the 22nd Olympiad in Informatics for Vietnamese students and the 38th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC). Competing with students from 71 universities and colleges nationwide, and 11 famous universities from Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hongkong, Thailand and Indonesia, DTU students won two seconds , four thirds and two consolation prizes.

 

30th November 2013

Competing with many excellent students from sixteen universities and colleges nationwide in the 2013 National Loa Thanh Tournament organized by Vietnam Construction Association in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, DTU students won several valuable prizes, including one second for The "Hon La-Quang Binh Resort Plan" by Nguyen Phuong Nam, two thirds for “Designing the Cau Gie Highway Overpass in Ninh Binh" by Vu Dang Bien and "The Blue Sea Arc" by Ho Thi Tuyet Nhi, and a Consolation prize.

 

14th April 2014       

DTU students won 14 major awards in the 9th National  Festival of Architecture.

 

15th May 2014        

DTU students won Third prize and the Style award in the 2014 Robocon Contest.

 

6th June 2014         

Mr. Joe Wilson, Microsoft’s Worldwide General Manager for Developer and Platform Engagement visited DTU and attended the opening ceremony of the DTU Microsoft Creation Center.

 

21st September 2014       

DTU IDEERS team won the Champion Cup in the 2014 “Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools” competition, hosted in Taiwan. 

 

22nd November 2014       

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc awarded DTU the Second Class Labor Medal, for its outstanding achievements in education from academic year 2009-2010 to 2013-2014.

 

9th January 2015               

Ho Thu Thanh Thu, a student of DTU Faculty of Architecture, was honored the “January Star” Award, initiated by the Student Association.

 

22nd January 2015                       

Tran Anh Tuan was awarded a First prize with a display entitled “Celestial Prince of Phu” in the  Computer Fireworks Competition.

 

14th May 2015        

DTU hosted 4th P2A partner meeting.

 

20th June 2015      

DTU launched the Silver Swallow Film Production Studio in its Center for Graphics and Art

 

21st June 2015       

DTU won  First and Third prize in Microsoft Mobile HACKATHON 2015

 

18th October 2015            

DTU Cheerdance comes first in the Regional Round of VUG - UNIGAME

 

12th November 2015        

The National Professorship Council awarded the Youngest Associate Professor in Vietnam to Dr. Ho Khac Hieu.

 

26th November 2015        

Hoang Van Sy, a K18 TMT DTU student, came second in the 2015 Mobile App Renovation Competition, held by Vietnam Informatics Association.

 

December 2015      

Phan Minh Tien and Hoang Ngoc Truong of DTU Faculty of Civil Engineering won a Second award at the Loa Thanh Tournament in Civil Engineering.

 

7th January 2016   

Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a K17 DTU student, was honored the “January Star” Award, initiated by the Student Association.

 

18th March 2016    

Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, received the title “Hero of Labor” in the Renewal period.

 

18th March 2016    

The IST-DTU team came 4th in the 2016 SCRT Information Security competition in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

April 2016                

DTU students won the 2016 National Microsoft Imagine Cup.

 

April 2016    

DTU students won majors awards in the 19th National Physics Olympiads: 8 awards (three First, a Second, two Third, a Consolation and a Delegated prizes).

 

20th May 2016        

Nguyen Cong Duc and Huynh Minh Trang, students of DTU International School,

won the 2016 National Go-Green-In-The-City Championship.

 

June 2016    

Ton That Binh of the K19 Information Technology CMU class was one of the four team members who won the 2016 CDIO Academy Cup in Finland.

 

25th June 2016      

The ISI-DTU won Third prize at the International Network Security WhiteHat Contets 11 in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

10th October 2016             

Dr. Doan Hong Le and Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, DTU lecturers, were awarded the title Associate Professor.

 

14th November 2016        

“The Virtual 3D Human Anatomy” application received the Tri Thuc Tre Vi Giao Duc Award in 2016.  

 

12th December 2016                    

DTU students won First prize in the 2016 National Targeted Innovation Challenge

 

20th February 2017                       

DTU become the first private university in Vietnam to receive a Certificate of National Education Quality, granted by the Center for Education Accreditation.

 

13th April 2017                               

DTU students won  a First prize for their SmartChick project and Second prize for Nano Farm - a Safe Hydroponic Vegetable Garden Project in the 2017 National Microsoft Imagine Cup. 

 

24th April 2017                               

Professor. Ngo Bao Chau visited and met DTU lecturers and students.

 

13th June 2017                              

DTU and Keuka College in the USA signed an On-site Study-Abroad agreement.

 

27th June 2017                  

Le Dinh Nhat Khanh, a student of DTU International School, and his team outstandingly won the CDIO Academy 2017 Winner Cup at the 2017 CDIO Academy Competition held at the University of Calgary in Canada.

 

19th August 2017              

DTU offered new On-site Study-Abroad program with Troy University in the US.

 

September 2017                

DTU ranked top 10 leading universities of Vietnam, by a group of independent researchers and Tia Sang magazine (under the guidance of the Ministry of Science & Technology).

 

16th November 2017        

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc awarded the only First prize in IT category for DTU product entitled “Using 3D Virtual Reality Technology to Simulate the Human body for Health science Education and Research” at the  Viet Nam Talent Awards 2017.

 

16th November 2017        

The project entitled: “Building a Foundation for Sustainable Development: ''Networked Societies” for the Cities of Tomorrow”, conducted by DTU lecturer in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast in the UK, was awarded the 2017 Newton Prize Vietnam.  

 

18th November 2017        

DTU students won 2017 Central Vietnam Information Security Championship
