Faculty of Environmental and Natural Sciences

The Faculty of Environmental and Chemical Engineering

The potential for environmental technology and engineering studies was first recognized in 2008 by the DTU Board, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and then the Faculty of Architecture. As a result, the discipline was separated from the Faculty of Architecture to become the Faculty of Environmental Technology and Engineering.

Currently, the faculty offers both academic and professional Bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Technology and Engineering, in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, and in the Food Industry.

The faculty is also preparing to offer a Master’s degree program in Environmental Risk and Disaster Management, in collaboration with a well-established foreign university, as well as a university-level major in Occupational Safety, in 2018-2019.

According to independent experts, the quality of the faculty graduation projects is improving steadily. At the beginning, very few students engaged in research and were not motivated by it. However, by 2013, 16 out of 41 graduation projects involved research projects. At present, 35 out of the faculty’s 305 students are engaged in nine research projects and lecturers are participating in eight, of which seven are funded by the DTU and one by a foreign partner. The quantity of national and international papers published is also increasing. Between 65% and 75% of enrollees graduate on schedule, of whom 60% obtain an honors degree and 40% a pass. Surveys by the DTU Center for Business Collaboration & Technology Transfer show that a large percentage of the graduates find good jobs.

Resolving to follow the edict “We Do Everything for Student Rights and Future Careers”, the faculty has held practical activities in collaboration with regional environmental service companies and regularly invites business professionals to take part in its Scientific Council and leading graduate projects. These activities help students acquire more practical experience and job opportunities.

The Faculty of Environmental and Chemical Engineering follows the traditions of the university, and its staff, lecturers, personnel and students remain determined to build an ever stronger DTU, to offer an excellent education whilst meeting the latest community requirements.
