What do Law students study?
In the first academic year, students acquire a basic knowledge of Psychology, Logic, Sociology, Vietnamese Culture and the History of World Civilization, to understand the legal implications on companies and staff. They also study subjects in common with students in other majors, such as English, Computer Science, Politics, National Defense Education and Physical Education.
During their first three years, they will learn more about specialized legal topics, including:
- Civil Law
- Criminal Law
- Administrative Law
- Commercial Law
They will continue by studying Marriage & Family, Labor, Land, Environmental, Financial, Stock, Investment, Law of the Sea, Criminal Psychology and International Law, and special skills involving Procedural Law, Contract Drafting & Contract Disputes and Legal Documents. Taking advantage of class debates and oral exams, students will learn how to listen, respond and defend their positions.
Students specializing in different legal fields will study different subjects, although the differences in Economic Law, Civil Law and Administrative Law are not significant. Consequently, a student majoring in Economic Law will still be able to consult in and plead criminal cases, and vice versa.
Moot courts and practical activities are interspersed between lectures to help students apply their knowledge and obtain a comprehensive perspective on their future careers aspirations. In the final year, successful students will be eligible to write a graduation thesis.
