The 2016 DTU Student Talent and Beauty Contest Finals

The 2016 DTU Student Talent and Beauty Contest Finals took place on March 20th. Wearing the Vietnamese “Ao Dai” and “Khan Dong”, with symbols of DTU’s logos and the titles, the winners, “Mr. and Ms.DTU”, were truly outstanding.

Seventeen contestants in the Vietnam Youth collection wore traditional Ao Dai dresses, designed by Tam Tran, to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. 
 
Another “Ao Dai” collection, named “Danang, City of the Flying Dragon” by costume designer Tam Tran lit up the stage of the Truong Vuong Theatre. The concept was based on the Lotus flower, the Dragon, the Unicorn, the Tortoise, the Phoenix and the four bridges of Danang, together with the DTU logo and mascot, to portray the parallel development of DTU and Danang.

Six contestants moved on to the next Interview round. Vo Thi Duong An, a student of the Vocational College and Trade School, and Nguyen Dac Binh, from the International School answered the questions best of all and were voted “Mr. and Ms. DTU” by the judges. Runners-up were Le Nguyen Thao Nguyen, from the International School and Nguyen Phuoc Danh, from Social Science and Humanities. Second runners-up were Nguyen Ngoc Cuu Tram, from Tourism and Tran Quang Minh Toan, a student of Business Administration.
 
Other extra prizes were also awarded. Nguyen Thanh Huong, a Pharmacy student, received the Talent Award and “Mr.DTU”, Nguyen Bac Binh, signed a one-year modeling contract with the Hong Kong Wedding Company. A prize for the Loveliest Face went Tran Thi Nhat Phuong, from Business Administration. 
 
Seventeen finalists all received certificates and scholarships from 50% to 100% at the DTU Olympia English Center. Mr. and Ms.DTU will receive free services at the High Quality Dentistry Center for one year. Hong Kong Wedding awarded vouchers offering 1 million VND discounts and sponsored nine women finalists to take a free make-up course, which normally costs 15 million each. The six winners in the Interview section will also receive Mobistar smart phones.
