Doctoral Dissertation Defence by PhD Candidate Pham Hung Cuong

On May 5th, Mr. Pham Hung Cuong successfully defended his Business Administration PhD dissertation entitled: “Factors impacting the brand value of retail businesses in Ho Chi Minh city”. The thesis was conducted under the mentorship of Associate Professor Le Duc Toan, DTU Vive-Provost and Dr. Ho Van Nhan, Vice Dean of DTU Graduate School. Nguyen Xuan Minh of the Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh city.

The DTU’s Thesis Assessment Committee included Associate Professor Le Quoc Hoi, Executive Editor of the  Economics and Development Magazine at the National Economics University; Associate Professor Dao Duy Huan, Dean of Business Administration at the University of Finance & Marketing; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Thai, Director of the Danang Institute of Social Development; Associate Professor Hoang Van Hai, Director of the Hanoi Institute of Business Technology; Associate Professor Doan Hong Le, Vice-Dean of the DTU Graduate School; Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Dean of Accounting; Associate Professor Le Duc Toan, DTU Vice-Provost; Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu, Dean of the DTU Graduate School; and Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Minh, Director of the Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh city.

The review board of the Doctoral thesis

PhD candidate Cuong built a model of the factors which affect the brand value of retail businesses, using different levels of quantitative and qualitative analysis, CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) and the SEM (Structural Equation Model) method. He then proposed solutions to improve the brand value of retail businesses in Ho Chi Minh city in the future. 

Mr. Cuong’s successful defence was highly appraised by the Thesis Assessment Committee, because of its practical value as reference material for future research. He will now be conferred the title of Doctor of Economics, specializing in Business Administration.
