Advantages & strengths

As healthcare systems continue to develop and communities’ healthcare needs grow, the role of nurses is expanding beyond providing care to include assessment, planning, management, and quality improvement in patient care. This has created a growing demand for highly qualified nursing professionals with research capabilities and the ability to apply scientific evidence.

DTU’s master’s program in Nursing is built on the university’s foundation in education and research in the health sciences. The program aims to develop nursing professionals with advanced knowledge, professional-practice skills, and scientific-research and management capabilities in health care.

DTU’s capabilities in education and research in the health sciences have been recognized in international university rankings. In 2026, the university was ranked in the world’s 401–500 range for Medical & Health by Times Higher Education (THE). It was also ranked in the world’s 551–600 range for Medicine in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

At the institutional level, DTU ranked 482nd worldwide in the QS World University Rankings 2026. These rankings show the university’s academic and research foundations and its educational environment, including its programs in the health sciences.

Building on this foundation, the master’s program in Nursing emphasizes advanced knowledge and the application of nursing science in healthcare practice. Students strengthen their competencies in nursing practice, nursing management, health education, patient care, patient safety, quality management of healthcare services, and scientific-research methods.

The program also emphasizes evidence-based practice (EBP), helping students develop the ability to search for, analyze, and apply the findings of scientific research to improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety.

Through the integration of professional knowledge with nursing research and management competencies, students learn to address complex professional issues, organize care activities, and contribute to improving service quality at healthcare facilities.
