The Faculty of Accountancy

General Overview - The Faculty of Accounting

Since its very foundation on 11th November 1994, DTU had three departments: Business Administration, Information Technology, and Foreign Languages. In particular, the Department of Business Administration was founded by the University and officially became active the 23rd January 1995. The Department offered courses in Accounting & Auditing, Business Administration, Finance and Credit, and Economics & Tourism, at that time.

After working towards satisfying social, educational, and managerial demands for a certain time, the Boards of Trustees and of Provosts decided to split off Accounting and Auditing, and Finance and Credit from the Department of Business Administration, to form the Department of Finance and Accounting, following decision number 905 QĐ/ĐHDT of 15th November 1999.

After many organizational changes, the current Faculty of Accounting was founded on November 21st 2003 with decision number 1095/03/QĐ/ĐHDT and officially started its activities the 1st December 2003. Following the university’s strategy, the faculty has steadily developed and improved its educational quality, diversified its courses and teaching methods. Accordingly, enrolment has continued to rise from 200 students to 5,000 regular students in academic, professional, and transition programs today. Until now, there have been nineteen academic and nine professional classes graduating a total of 8,000 Bachelors of Accounting. Most graduates have found excellent careers, some holding important positions in business and government nationwide.

We also have a youthful and dynamic, full-time teaching team, all of whom hold post-graduate degrees. The goals the Faculty are to: “Train students for employment in all kinds of careers, who are able to adapt well to any work conditions and use informatics and foreign languages in their jobs. They must be inquisitive enough to accumulate all the latest information in their specialty and base their learning on the four main pillars: Learn to know, learn to do, learn to live together and learn to be humane.”
