To commemorate its sixteenth anniversary, on July 7th 2010, the DTU Faculty Annual Football Tournament kicked-off at Tieu La stadium.
The tournament drew 12 teams, comprised of faculty member from various departments and offices at DTU. The 12 teams were divided into four groups, the first and second teams in each group would then play each other and the four winners in the quarter-final round would go on to the semifinals. Last year, the free substitution rule was allowed and the quality of the players improved. Moreover, with the presence of such strong teams such as the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Architecture, the CSE Center, the Communications & Marketing Center, each match attracted many enthusiastic supporters.

Mr. Nguyen Ðuc Thanh, Chairman of DTU Trade Union, Chief of the Organizing Board said "This is the fourth time the DTU Trade Union has held a football tournament for all faculty members. It is also a way for DTU staff and lecturers to build closer relationships and to promote the popularity of physical exercise."
After the opening ceremony, the first matches of groups A, B, C, and D were played. In the first match, the alliance of the Natural Sciences Department and Foreign Languages Department lost 0-2 to the alliance of the Planning & Financial Affairs Department and the Office of Academic Affairs. This was the first big surprise of the tournament, because the alliance of Natural Sciences Department and Foreign Languages Department were the champions in 2009. Another surprise occurred in the second round, when the runners-up from last year, the Physical Education Defense Centre, were was beaten 3-7 by the alliance of the Faculty of Business Administration, Accounting and Tourism. In two other matches, the Department of Architecture beat the CSE Center 2-1 and the Department of Telecommunications and Electronics crushed the Administrative Office by 4-1.
Another tournament takes place from November 7th to November 28th, 2010.
