The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) held the ninth public arts festival for the armed forces, young people and students of Region 2, themed as “Songs encouraging soldiers during campaigns”, to promote civilian-military ties. The festival was held from September 24 to 28 at the Cultural House of Military of Region 5. DTU was honored to receive an Emulation Banner for winning one gold and three silver medals.
DTU’s performance
The public arts festival is held every five years. Participants included 14 public art troupes, with 500 artists and 90 performances by the Staff Department of Military Region 5, the Danang Military Command, the Danang Border Defense Force, Duy Tan University, the Danang Youth Union, Army Corps 3, Army Corps 15, Naval Region 3, the Quàng Ninh Provincial Military Command, Division 361 of the Air Defense and Air Force Service, Division 968 of Military Region 4, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Military Command, the General Department of Logistics and People’s Police of Region 2.
The musical performances expressed love of the Party and the country, contributing to the “All people uniting to build cultural lives” campaign and vividly reflected the lives of soldiers, youth and students.
DTU is awarded Certificates of Merit by the General Department of the Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army
At the closing ceremony, the General Department of the Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army presented banners to 15 groups and individuals for outstandingly performances and to the best 3 song composers. Certificates of Merit were also awarded to 35 gold medal performances, 20 silver, 13 groups and 4 individuals. DTU was honored to receive an Emulation Banner for winning one gold medal for the “Toi la sinh vien Viet Nam”, performance and for the three silver medal performances of the “Hat ve anh – Dong doi” mashup, “Vet thuong sau chien tranh” singing and the “Mai mai tuoi 20 – Buoc chan tren day Truong Son – Duong truong son xe anh qua” singing and dancing.
Dr. Le Van Thang, a DTU former student, said: “The festival allowed soldiers, policemen, young people and students to meet and share their experiences. It also promotes our culture and identifies new talent, especially of those too young to feel the wartime pain and sacrifice of our fathers. The festival shows DTU students what it was like to live during the war, full of difficulty and loss, when our soldiers were ready to die for their country. DTU skillfully remixed revolutionary songs to show the connection between the past, present and future, leaving a permanent impression on us all.”
