DTU meets with the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office
According to Ms. Ou Chi-Hsi, the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh city was founded to promote international educational and cultural exchanges between Taiwanese universities and others, including Vietnamese. With two offices in Vietnam, the Division regularly holds workshops on university education management and on teaching improvement, provides scholarship opportunities and enrollment information on Taiwanese universities, helps Vietnamese students go to Taiwan, expands Chinese language education programs internationally, holds Chinese language exams and promotes bilateral educational exchanges for lecturers and students.
She said: “There are currently a great many Taiwanese businesses investing and working in Vietnam, but they have difficulty finding employees who speak Chinese. Furthermore, the Chinese spoken in Taiwan has some language differences, so understanding Taiwanese Chinese is a big advantage for new graduates, opening up quick promotion opportunities with better benefits and compensation. DTU offers a Chinese language major and we plan to collaborate to exchange lecturers and students, organize summer camps and provide study and work scholarships for comprehensive development.”
