On May 24th, 2010, after one month of hard work, the DTU Labor Union together with the People’s Committee of the Hai Chau Ward, in the district of Son Tra, in Da Nang handed over a house for the teacher Ms.Hoang Thi Lan. This project cost about 20 million VND and was financed by DTU.
Participants in this event included Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, Party Vice Secretary and Chairman of the DTU Labor Union, and Mr. Huynh Ba Cu, Vice President of the Son Tra Labor Federation together with representatives from the press and local residents.
Although the house is only thirty square meters in size, it is well equipped with all conveniences including a toilet, a kitchen, a veranda, electricity and water.
Currently, the An Hai Bac ward has 905 needy families, who often live in dilapidated dwellings. In the Vietnamese spirit, DTU has granted hundred millions of VND, mainly focusing on charitable activities. In addition, DTU pays 600,000 VND every month for three Agent Orange patients and 500 million VND a year to build other houses for poor families.
