The alumni of the first Economic Law class, from 1995 to 1999, and the fourth Hospitality, from 1998 to 2002, were overjoyed to return to DTU to meet their lecturers and friends on a day full of emotions, many years later.
Many of them were surprised to see how much the university had changed. When DTU was founded twenty-five years ago, the university seriously lacked the facilities it has today and now is very different, with an excellent reputation and spacious facilities. In the interim, 94,000 highly-qualified Bachelors, Masters, Ph.Ds. and Engineers have graduated into the community.

The alumni graduated about twenty years ago, which is neither a short or long time in their lives, but a thread linking past and present. On return, they enthusiastically reminisced about their vivid memories of teachers and friends. Many of them have been successful, others have faltered and taken off in other directions. However, when they came together again, those things were no important as they chatted about old times and recounted their precious memories.
Mr. Pham Van Thanh, a former Economic Law class Prefect, sentimentally confided that, “When I first started studying, so long ago, the university still faced many difficulties, classrooms were cramped and buildings shabby. The university has since been modernized with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. As alumni, we are all very happy to see that. The change all came about through the huge efforts of the university itself, especially Meritorious Teacher and Hero of Labor, Le Cong Co, Chairman of the DTU Board of Trustees.”

Their lecturers were so happy that the alumni have been successfully contributing to the ongoing development of Vietnam. Whatever they are doing now, they will always be proud to have graduated from DTU, where they received an education which has enabled them to now confidently engage in both national and international careers.

“When we enrolled at DTU, each of us came from different backgrounds and families and we had to try to overcome various difficulties,” said Ms. Vo Thi Kim Yen, who now works for the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper. “Thanks to what we learned here, we have succeeded. I am happy and proud to see how much DTU has changed and hope that the standard of Tourism and Hospitality studies at the university will continue to steadily improve.”
The lecturers who directed the alumni also faced and overcame many problems themselves and were proud to see how their students had matured over the twenty years, to become very productive members of the community. “I am very proud and moved to meet the alumni of my first Economic Law class in the Central Vietnam again,” said Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuan, Dean of the DTU Faculty of Law. “Their success sets an outstanding example for our students to follow today. I hope that you will come back regularly to DTU to continue spreading your enthusiasm and professionalism. To succeed in Law, passion, creativity and enthusiasm are all vital pre-requisites.”
DTU Vice-Provost Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu pointed out that, “Many of our DTU alumni now hold excellent jobs and their success has brought renown to our university. The success of DTU over the past twenty-five years can be attributed to the contributions of all our lecturers, students and alumni, and I hope that you will all stay in touch and support future students to perfect themselves, like you have, and build solid careers into the future.”
