Amdocs to Look for Highly-Qualified Personnel at Duy Tan

On January 30th, a delegation from Amdocs led by Mrs. Smadar Lazarovitz, the Amdocs representative in Viet Nam visited Duy Tan University. Amdocs is the leading provider of unified communication and network service solutions in Israel.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU Deputy Provost, Deans from the DTU International School and faculty from the Information Technology department provided the delegation with comprehensive information and responded to questions. Mrs. Lazarovitz, stated that Amdocs planned to expand its operations in Viet Nam in 2013 and that investments were being considered in Danang and Ho Chi Minh City. While Amdocs preferred Danang, the availability of qualified staff there concerned them.

Mrs. Lazarovitz said: “We love Danang, the local policies are liberal and the environment is attractive. However, we need more than 300 highly qualified employees with a working knowledge of English for our new branch in Viet Nam. This is the most important issue for us to make a final decision”.

On behalf of DTU, Mr. Nguyen Duc Man, Dean of the DTU International School, confirmed that DTU was in a position to alleviate Amdocs’ valid concerns. DTU is committed to offer advanced programs to ensure that students are guaranteed access to high-quality international education. DTU is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University, one of the four leading American information technology institutions. DTU recently started offering advanced I/T programs. Hopefully, graduates of the second year will be able to meet the stringent demands of Amdocs. As a result, the number of DTU Information Technology graduates will be ample supply for Amdocs to choose from.

In meeting some DTU students of Information Technology, the delegation expressed their surprise and satisfaction with their English skills and qualifications. This provided them with the confidence to look for suitable jobs on graduation in 2013.
