From the love of creativity to the dream of becoming an architect

Nguyen Van Thuan is enthralled by creativity, which is why he has aspired to becoming an Interior Architect ever since the 8th grade. “I highly respect ‘interior value,’ especially living space,” he explains. “I want to design highly artistic, appropriate and comfortable space for more effective living and working, especially in residences, restaurants and offices, for example.

In order to achieve his objectives, Van Thuan spent time practicing important architectural drawing skills while studying all the high school subjects. In the summer of his 11th grade, he studied for three months in a drawing class, which he followed up with self-study at home. He also met with older students to learn more. Van Thuan now believes that he was fortunate to have identified his personal direction, ranging from focusing on the creation of images to describing materials. He asserts that experience and state-of-mind are the two most key factors that contributed to his impressive results at the Hue University of Sciences Drawing exam.

He stated: “Once I had identified my basic objectives, my next most important requirement was to choose the best university. I ultimately decided on DTU, because its dynamic, creative and excellent education environment is compatible with my personality.”

Don’t work hard, work smart

A saying that Van Thuan likes and motivates him in his life and studies is: “Don’t work hard, work smart.” On his mission to become a skilled interior architect and satisfy his client needs, he dedicated himself to developing a plan to study hard in class and build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills. Van Thuan is also well aware that knowledge is boundless and always needs refining in order to achieve sustainable and long-term success. He intends to continue learning and researching the latest trends in interior architecture and create unique innovative ideas.

“I’ve conducted meticulous research into Architecture in general and the DTU Interior Architecture major in particular,” explains Van Thuan. “I’ve discovered that there are many DTU students who participate in extra-curricular competitions and practical projects, with the dedicated support of their lecturers, and the university in general. I plan to join them to develop myself comprehensively which will give me more opportunity to study, exchange information, share experiences and affirm my capabilities.”
