Hospitality & Tourism Institute Student Wins 2023 DTU Talented Master of Ceremonies Contest

On August 9, the twelve finalists of the 2023 DTU Talented Master of Ceremonies contest staged compelling  performances, and Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa, from the Hospitality & Tourism Institute (HTi), was the winner. She convinced  her judges and audience with her confident hosting skills, sweet and emotional voice, and bright stage presence. Thoa was also second runner-up in the folk music category of the 2023 Vietnam Music Talent Contest, in May of this year.

The contest was jointly organized by the DTU School of Foreign Languages & Social Humanities and the Hospitality & Tourism Institute, and sponsored by the Rong Tien Sa Academy, the Vyna Makeup Academy, and the1.2.3 Queen Beauty Salon of the H2 Corporation. The contest enabled students to engage in media, cultural, and art activities, to develop their personal soft skills, self-confidence and creativity and, at the same time, identified and motivated potential students who were qualified to host future university activities.

Two months after the preliminary round of the contest, the twelve finalist were announced and the splendidly decorated DTU auditorium was shimmering with stage lights, ready to welcome the expectant audience. The jury comprised of the General Manager of the DTU School of Foreign Languages & Social Humanities, Ms. Truong Thi Nhu Hang, and leading media experts from Danang. These included Editor and Reporter Dao Xuyen, from of the Vietnam Television Center in Central Vietnam & Central Highlands (VTV8); Editor and Master of Ceremonies, Dinh Truc, from the Danang Radio & Television Station (DRT); Master of Ceremonies, Xuan Kieu, who hosts courses at the Rong Tien Sa Academy; and the Rong Tien Sa Academy Training Manager, Ms. Dong Truc. 
 
The finalists demonstrated their confidence, dynamism and talent by way of their attractive, engaging, and creative hosting. Acts ranged from impressive single hosting on diverse topics, including youth; the prime of your life; happiness; volunteering; success; and smiles, to professionally balanced co-hosting ones, when contestants led their audience through an emotional array of various exciting, humorous and graceful experiences, all thrilling, fascinating, joyful and touching.

The contest section of dealing with situations, with the four leaders contesting together, proved challenging, with complex and unpredictable situations. However, their creativity and ingenuity, captured the attention of the audience, as they hosted the show and mastered problems and unexpected surprises simultaneously, proving their talents in live situations.

- First runner-up, Ho Thi Khanh Huyen, from the School of Foreign Languages & Social Humanities
- Second runner-up, Tran To Uyen, from the School of Economics
- Truong Viet Duc, an HTi student, received the Most Promising Prize
- Nguyen Thuy Duyen, from the School of Foreign Languages & Social Humanities, received the Favorite Contestant award
 
In addition, the twelve finalists received certificates and gifts from the sponsors.
 
“To prepare for the competition, the finalists attended a training session at the Rong Tien Sa Academy and at the DTU JC Chance Press & Media Club, recording hosting media programs and rehearsing for finals night,” explained first runner-up Ho Thi Khanh Huyen. “Although the contest didn’t last for too long, it was a great experience that helped me mature daily, become more self-confident and especially make many new friends with the same interests as myself.”
“My goal was to exchange experience, learn more, and assert myself, and I believe I accomplished that. I’ve learned valuable lessons about professionalism and work attitude, and my passion for hosting events has been aroused, a part of my lifetime memories of my early university years.”
 
The 2023 DTU Talented Master of Ceremonies contest was highly successful and left participants with permanently strong emotions. Congratulations to you all, we hope there will be many new opportunities for our talented Masters of Ceremonies to shine on their journey to becoming highly professional event hosts.
