Dat Thanh is a lively Gen-Zer, who benefits from his parents’ complete trust, his teachers’ confidence, and his friends’ affection. He believes that hard work is key to achieve high exam scores. His components in the latest Academic Performance test at VNU HCMC were:

- Mathematics, Logic, Data Analysis: 241 points
- Natural Sciences: 223
- Social Science: 188

Dat Thanh is always aware of the importance of learning and researching unique but effective new learning methods. He attempted to study all subjects in grade 12 and said: “There are thousands of students sitting the Academic Performance test, so the competition is very strong and the test requires mastering a comprehensive knowledge of English, Vietnamese, mathematics, logic, data analysis and so on.” He added: “The secret of effective study is that a quick cram is not the solution, we must go through a process of accumulating knowledge over many years of learning. With a solid understanding of my basic  course textbooks, I also studied online, from a variety of reputable sources. I personally am not overly concerned about the emulation race, I learn more accumulating information and understanding it, I look for knowledge, not for grades. In class, absorbing information, listening attentively to my lecturers and trying to memorize and understand the meaning provides me with long-term recall.

“I also review previous lessons, explore new types of lessons, and regularly practice taking exams for improvement. For new question types, it’s important to carefully consider your line of attack, to find your own solutions, and identify tricks. Before an exam, I never feel too much pressure or force myself to spend a lot of time studying. Balancing leisure, physical exercise and studies is the secret to keeping your mind relaxed and your health stable, and your studying will immediately be more effective. When sitting the test, I just try and analyze the questions to the best of my ability and check my memory for what I’ve already learned.

For example, the test for Maths, Logic, & Data Analysis wasn’t too difficult. You just calmly analyze the questions and you’ll easily get through, because the questions are just made to trick you, they aren’t as difficult as you think.”
