DTU’s Tourism Programs Renew UN Tourism TedQual Accreditation
The hospitality & tourism programs at DTU once again affirm their prestige and teaching quality by renewing TedQual certification from the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO or UN Tourism) in the reaccreditation conducted in May 2025. This affirms sustained compliance of tourism majors with international standards in education, training, and practical engagement.
This accreditation standard is implemented by the UNWTO. On December 29, 2025, two of DTU’s training programs:
- International Hotel Management, and
- International Restaurant Operations Management,
were officially recognized by the UNWTO as meeting accreditation standards. They achieved 789/845 points and satisfied 93% of all criteria - an improvement over the first accreditation cycle with 771/845 points and 91.2% of the criteria.

DTU’s new TedQual certification is valid for three years, from December 2025 to December 2028, which is the longest possible accreditation period. It serves as clear evidence of DTU’s strong commitment to continuous improvement of its curricula and to keeping them updated with the practical needs of the tourism & service industry in the context of global integration.
When preparing for the previous, initial accreditation in 2022, DTU received extensive guidance and direct consultancy from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong PolyU), the world’s best university in tourism & hospitality across many global rankings.
UN Tourism TedQual enjoys wide global recognition for its comprehensive evaluation criteria and its focus on academic quality, business engagement, lecturer capacity, facilities, learning support services, and especially a learner-centered philosophy in education.

To earn the accreditation for its tourism & hospitality programs and successfully maintain it through reaccreditation, DTU diligently developed advanced, high-quality programs for more than a decade through collaboration with Pennsylvania State University (PSU), one of the world’s five best institutions in tourism.
Tourism training at the DTU Hospitality & Tourism Institute (HTi) follows international standards, with diverse development-oriented programs and a study environment linked with practice - to meet domestic and international workforce demands in tourism.
DTU is currently among the largest training institutions of Vietnam in terms of student numbers in tourism, hospitality, and restaurant. It benefits from its location in “the most livable city in Vietnam” and “the tourism hub of Central Vietnam”. Employment rates for DTU graduates in tourism consistently exceed 96%. Many alumni work at hotels and resorts of major groups such as Marriott, Sheraton, and Four Seasons, or as official employees at airlines like Emirates Airlines, VietJet, and Vietnam Airlines.

Modern facilities at DTU strongly support tourism students with studies and practice
During their studies, DTU students in tourism can participate in six-month or one-year student exchange in South Korea, France, Macau, and Hong Kong (China), with scholarships fully covering tuition. They can join exchange programs in different ASEAN nations through Passage to ASEAN (P2A). They may do internships at Disneyland Hong Kong with salaries of up to HKD 17,200 per month (about VND 55 million/month), or at five-star hotels such as Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View and Sheraton & Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung, where they can earn HKD 7,000 per month (about VND 23 million/month).

With a commitment and systematic investment in training quality, tourism at DTU appears at high positions in global rankings, notably in the 51–100 range worldwide in the QS World Rankings by Subject 2025.
