DTU Travels to Ly Son Island for a Charity Event

“Years ago, Mr. Le Van Tho had an accident during a fishing expedition near the Paracel Islands. Since then, he has lost the use of his legs, so the wheelchair will make life easier for him. Mr. Nguyen Van Quang and Mr. Bui Hue were also overjoyed to receive wheelchairs. Mr. Hue’s previous one was too old to move, so his two dogs have assisted him for many years”, said Mr. Dinh Trung Hoa.
According to Mr. Nguyen The Duong, the people of Ly Son Island still have problems. There is only one nursery and one primary school on the island. Students at secondary school and high school have to travel to larger island. Despite these difficulties, many parents still encourage their children to continue their studies. On Ly Son Island, fresh water is scarce so residents must conserve it as much as possible. However, they are able to cultivate garlic and onions. They visit the tombs of people who died in the war or had accidents at sea. The children were very excited with the new books delivered to the Ly Son Library and the An Binh primary school.
The trip to Ly Son left a strong impression on the participants, who hope that more organizations and individuals will donate more in the future to help the residents of Ly Son Island.
