Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu, Rector of the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (SCA) at Duy Tan University (DTU), has been appointed Vice Provost of DTU.

According to DTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu has made significant contributions to the university’s strong international standing in Computer Science and Information Systems. He also holds senior positions in several information technology associations and professional networks in Vietnam and has helped connect Central Vietnam with numerous universities and technology companies worldwide.

Speaking at the ceremony to announce and present the appointment decision, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu said: “In the future, students will choose universities with genuine strengths in AI research and development, as AI has now permeated nearly every field - from business, manufacturing, finance, and banking to healthcare, services, and the arts. A university without strong AI capabilities will find it difficult to equip its students with the information, knowledge, tools, and technologies they need to enter the future workforce. DTU’s current efforts to develop an ‘AI University’ model are therefore vital.”

With his expertise in information technology and artificial intelligence, together with many years of experience in managing undergraduate and graduate education and research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu is expected to help lead DTU’s efforts to develop a highly skilled digital workforce and establish AI as a driving force for innovation in higher education.

DTU stated that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu has contributed to the development of numerous undergraduate and graduate programs in information technology, computer science, information security, and, more recently, artificial intelligence. His academic and administrative efforts have helped DTU’s Computer Science and Information Systems programs gain recognition in several international rankings. Most notably, DTU ranked 144th worldwide in this field in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

At the national level, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu has made significant contributions through the following roles:

- Vice President of FISU Vietnam, a club comprising universities and colleges that offer information technology programs
- Vice President of the Vietnam Cybersecurity Expert Network (ViSecurity)
- Member of the Ministry of Education and Training’s advisory council on the development of curriculum standards for computing and information technology
- Participant in Ministry of Science and Technology projects aimed at developing human resources in information security and cybersecurity

In the area of international relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu has helped establish partnerships with numerous universities and major technology corporations in research, technology transfer, workforce training, and AI ecosystem development. These partners include Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, Tianjin University in China, and the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). Corporate partners include Alibaba Cloud in the areas of AI and cloud-computing infrastructure,

Chengdu Minto Technology in the joint development of AI agents, and UBTech in AI-integrated robotics.

The appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu comes as DTU accelerates its strategy to become a research-oriented university and develop an “AI University” model, with artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and international cooperation serving as key pillars of its future development.
