A technology expert who has been working at DTU for many years, Prof. Nhu has taken part in the development of the university’s undergraduate and graduate programs in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and most recently AI. These programs have provided the labor market with thousands of graduates who are highly valued by employers.

Together with his colleagues, he has also contributed to bringing DTU’s majors in computer science and in information systems into international rankings, including a 144th position worldwide in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. For a private or nonpublic university, such a result would have been very hard a decade ago.

At the national level, Prof. Nhu has served in several roles:

-    Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of ICT Faculties, Institutes, Schools, & Universities (FISU),
-    Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Security Network (Visecurity),
-    member of an advisory council for the Ministry of Education & Training to develop national curriculum standards for computer science and IT, and
-    member of projects under the Ministry of Science & Technology to develop human resources in information and cybersecurity.

In recent years, Prof. Nhu has played an active role in implementing DTU’s international AI collaboration strategy. During the university’s delegation to China in April 2026, he participated in meetings with big universities and technology companies to establish partnerships in research, technology transfer, workforce development, and the joint development of an AI ecosystem, including collaborations with:

-    Alibaba Cloud to integrate AI education with real-world cloud computing infrastructure;
-    Chengdu Minto Technology to build a joint AI Agents Laboratory and develop AI agent systems for lecturing and university administration;
-    UBTech to build an AI–Robotics ecosystem and take AI beyond theory into integrated practice environments featuring interactive robots.

These collaborations are part of an industry-partnership model that extends beyond technology adoption to the co-creation of knowledge, joint research projects, and the development of a high-quality digital workforce.

Alongside his work for international collaboration, Prof. Nhu is also a driving force behind AI education and outreach at DTU and throughout the broader community. Since 2024, he has implemented AI training for more than 1,500 DTU staff and lecturers, and he has delivered AI-related training to district and commune officials under the Danang People’s Committee and to professionals in healthcare and education in Danang, Central Vietnam, and the Central Highlands.

Most recently, DTU partnered with STEAM for Vietnam, Google, and other partners to launch “AI for Impact 2026”, an initiative aimed at bringing AI literacy to a hundred thousand Central Vietnamese. The program is designed to make AI knowledge and skills accessible to a broad audience: students, teachers, government officials, healthcare professionals, businesses, and the general public. It aims to teach participants how to use AI tools effectively and responsibly. It is considered a large-scale initiative for workforce readiness for the digital economy and to accelerate the digital transformation in Central Vietnam.

The appointment of Prof. Nhu as DTU Vice Provost comes as the university advances its strategic vision of becoming a research university and an “AI university”, with AI, digital transformation, and international collaboration as its primary pillars.

Our goal for the near future is not simply to teach how to use AI tools, but to cultivate a new generation capable of innovating and mastering technology and AI, creating AI-powered products and solutions, and contributing to socioeconomic development.”
