Phan Hoang Thuan wins a Third prize

Phan Hoang Thuan is a DTU K25 student of the PSU-standard Tourism and Hotel Management program. He has proven his musical talent by overcoming all the rigorous rounds to advance to the finals of the "Vietnamese Love Songs 2024" Contest, and is the only contestant from the Central region to win an award.

In the first two rounds, Hoang Thuan chose songs about Hue, including "Hue va Em" by composer Nhat Ngan and "Mua tren pho Hue" by composer Minh Ky, receiving high praise from the panel. For the semi-final round in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Thuan chose the song "Thuong ve mien Trung" by composer Duy Khanh, conveying a meaningful message about the love and resilience of the people from this land.

Hoang Thuan said: “When I listened to the other contestants perform on stage, I felt a bit worried because they all sang really beautifully, and I knew that Ho Chi Minh City is also one of the major art centers that has produced many talented artists for the country, so I felt worried. During the finals, the performances of the other contestants all had accompaniments, while mine was a solo act, which made me even more worried. However, I then calmed down and saw this as a challenge for myself to take control of the stage, so I was determined to try my best. Being the youngest contestant in the competition, winning third place in the Bolero category is a miracle and a memorable experience in my life.”

Previously, Hoang Thuan had won the runner-up position in the 2017 School Singing Contest. At the "Central Region Bolero Singing Contest 2022," held at the Kim Dong Park stage in Hue City, Hoang Thuan earned the title "Champion".

Have Passion for Art and Tourism

"Since I was a child, my grandmother and mother lulled me to sleep with lullabies, lyrical songs, and folk music, so those musical melodies have deeply permeated my consciousness, awakening my passion for music. That's why I can sing a variety of music genres from modern, pop, ballad to traditional opera, Bai Choi, and Chau Van,..." Hoang Thuan shared about the origin of his passion for singing.

Hoàng Thu?n added: “Being fortunate to have a family that strongly supports my passion for the arts is a significant source of encouragement for me. Along with the arts, I love Tourism because I want to use it as a platform to introduce the beauty of our culture, people, and country to friends and international visitors. This is also the reason why I chose to study Tourism and Hotel Management at DTU where students are provided with the opportunity to acquire the most up to date knowledge and skills for their future careers. Also, the lecturers constantly creates a diverse extracurricular environment, igniting passion and supporting students to enhance their talents and strengths in all areas. This allows us to feel extremely comfortable developing our abilities comprehensively.”
