Three Vietnamese Universities Qualify to Apply for an Employment Pass under the New Singaporean Government COMPASS Criteria

On September 1, the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower issued a new visa policy, entitled the Complementary Assessment Framework, COMPASS, in order to develop a more diverse global workforce. 
 
Three Vietnamese universities qualified for COMPASS Employment Pass (EP) application. DTU was listed in Group A, with 20 points awarded for degrees from all faculties, and Vietnam National University in HCMC and Vietnam National University in Hanoi were listed in Group B, with 20 points awarded for degrees in four  specific faculties. COMPASS evaluates EP applications based on a holistic set of individual and firm-related attributes, including:  
 
1. Salary
2. Qualifications 
3. Diversity 
4. Support for local employment
5. Skills bonus (Shortage Occupation List)
6. Strategic economic priorities bonus 
 
Applicants earn points if they meet or exceed expectations. Overall, they are rated on:
 
- Exceeds expectations: 20
- Meets expectations: 10
- Does not meet expectations: 0
 
EP applicants earn 20 points on the COMPASS Criteria 5, (Skills bonus or Shortage Occupation List), covering six topics: agritech; financial services; green economy; healthcare; information technology (IT); and maritime science.

DTU majors are awarded 20 points in conjunction with Singapore's new Visa Policy
 
The new visa program applies to employment passes and work visas for foreign professionals, managers, executives and specialists. 
 
With COMPASS, employers can select high-quality foreign experts to improve the diversity of their workforce, and are responsible for ensuring the authenticity of candidates’ qualifications, which must be recognized by the hundred leading international universities or reputable universities in different regions.
 
DTU currently offers:

DTU offers degrees ranging from Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Construction, Architecture, Environment, Automotive Engineering Technology to Business Administration, Finance & Banking, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Multimedia, English/Chinese/Korean/Japanese to Journalism, Tourism, General Practitioner, Dentist-Maxillofacial Doctor, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biotechnology and others. Graduates are awarded 20 points when applying for or extending an EP in Singapore.

According to Singapore's new Visa Policy, group A includes several universities frequently ranked top of the THE or QS rankings, such as:
 
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US
- CalTech, US
- Harvard University, US
- Stanford University, US
- Princeton University, US
- Cambridge University, UK 
- Oxford University, UK
- University College London, UK
- ETH Zurich, Switzerland
- National University of Singapore 
 
The two American universities listed in Group A, CMU and PSU, have partnered with DTU to implement advanced training programs in Software Engineering, Information Systems and Cyber Security, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance & Banking, and Hospitality & Tourism. 
 
In group B, VNU HCMC and VNU Hanoi have been awarded 20 points for four degrees:
 
- Computer Science
- Programming & Systems Analysis
- Information Technology
- Computer Studies
 
When Vietnamese universities are awarded additional points when applying for or extending an EP in Singapore,  more opportunities will be available for Vietnamese to work in Singapore and become integrated into the Southeast Asian economic community (AEC) in 2025.
