The “Quang Region Gen Z” Contest at DTU

The opening ceremony and the first match in the qualifying round of the “Quang Region Gen Z” contest took place at DTU on October 5. Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training and Chairman of the Danang education sector’s Trade Union organization; Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, DTU Vice-Provost; and representatives from 25 local high schools and centers for continuing education (CCEs) attended.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh said: “The name of the contest: “Quang Region Gen Z” reflects the competition’s emphasis on the culture of the region and the dynamic spirit of its young people. On behalf of the organizers, we would like to express our gratitude to Duy Tan University, the Tuoi tre Newspaper, the high schools, and the CCEs for collaborating with the Department of Education and Training to hold this contest. We hope that the students will be able to showcase their talents, passion, and knowledge of the history, culture, and traditional values of Danang-Quang Nam, in the past and present.”

The “Quang Region Gen Z” contest consisted of several sections, offering valuable prizes for Gen Z students from 22 local high schools and 3 CCEs. 25 teams were drawn and divided into 8 groups to compete for spots in the semi-finals and receive valuable gifts worth a total of 51 million VND.

Questions in the contest are focused on the historical, economic, social, and cultural aspects of Danang-Quang Nam in the past and present
 
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said: “I think that the most important aspect of this contest is not trying to win, but rather to benefit by collaborating with others, acquiring additional vital knowledge, and further developing the necessary skills. On behalf of the DTU provosts, I hope that the students will engage in discussions, make new friends, and cultivate a love for the traditional history of our country.”

Questions in the contest were focused on the historical, economic, social, and cultural aspects of Danang-Quang Nam, past and present. Each match consisted of 3 teams competing in 4 sections. In the case of a tie, an additional question would be asked.    
 
On the first day of the qualifying round, Group A, included the Nguyen Van Thoai High School, CCE No. 2, and the Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, and Group B the Hoang Hoa Tham High School, the Pham Phu Thu High School and the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted. The teams were evenly matched and fans witnessed a range of emotions, from nervousness and tension, to bursts of joy in victory, and especially mixed feelings of regret when their team was eliminated.
 
At the end of the first day, two teams from the Nguyen Thuong Hien High School and the Hoang Hoa Tham High School advanced to the semi-finals.
