The “2021 Students’ Creativity and Intellectual Property Rights” competition aimed at providing information on Intellectual Property Law to university students in central Vietnam.
Five teams coming from Hue University, DTU, Dong A University and Danang Architecture University participated in this competition. Teams took part in three rounds around three topics in Intellectual Property Law as follows:
-Topic 1: General knowledge of Intellectual Property Law (competition format: Quiz, multiple choice)
-Topic 2: Students’ Creativity (competition format: Expressing situations/ideas through performing plays, mime, and music)
-Topic 3: Real-world connection (competition format: Presentation and Rhetoric)
Students needed knowledge and different skills in the field of Intellectual Property Law. In the first round, students needed a deep understanding of Intellectual Property Law to answer quiz questions quickly. In the second round, students could show off their creativity by explaining Intellectual Property Law through performing plays. In the last round, they could show off their persuasion skills.
Ms. Ngo Phuong Tra, Head of the Representative Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property in Danang, awarded the second prize to DTU’s Captain Law
Ho Nguyen Hoai Thuong, a member of DTU’s Captain Law, said: “The three rounds in the competition were completely different, so it required that teams have an understanding of Intellectual Property and know how to express their ideas to the listeners. Although the other teams were excellent and confident, we still believed in ourselves. Choosing the “Intellectual Property Protection based on Traditional Knowledge” topic, we wanted to send the message: Protecting the intellectual property of the nation is not only the responsibility of legislators, but also of our young generation.”
The DTU Captain Law team had 5 members: Nguyen Thi Hai Vy, Ho Nguyen Hoai Thuong, Tran Quoc Huy, Dang Sang Nhan, and Thuong Kim Hang. They were very creative in each round of the competition.
Finally, the first prize went to the GoldStars team, from the University of Law, Hue University. The second prize went to DTU’s Captain Law and the third prize to The 20s team from the University of Law, Hue University. Two consolation prizes went to the Kien Truc team, from Danang Architecture University, and the UDA team, from Dong A University.
Captain Law team were creative and excellent in each round of the competition
Tran Quoc Huy, a member of the Captain Law team, said: “I could not forget the moment when the judges announced that the second prize went to our team. We burst with joy at the time. No matter what prizes in the competition we got, we conquered ourselves. Intellectual Property Law is very difficult and broad. In order to have a deep understanding of it, we have to study more and more. I think that our team couldn’t have succeeded at this competition without the support of our lecturers and our university. DTU held many Talk Shows with experts in the field of Intellectual Property to enhance our knowledge. This will be the most brilliant memory of our youth when we dared to think, dared to do, and tried our best to be creative.”
