In 1963, the Student Federation for Liberation of Central Vietnam began to fight bravely, despite the terrible repression of the enemy, and other cities followed, including Saigon. It was the struggle lead by exceptional young intellectuals, such as Nhat Chi Mai, Vo Thi Thang, Nguyen Thai Binh, Nguyen Tam Vang, Tran Quang Long and Tran Phu Quy and also the foundation of the legendary, tempestuous life of Mr. Le Cong Co, who was originally the Chairperson of the Federation, who served in the Vietnamese army during the war.

A musical performance

Music was performed by DTU Center for Arts & Sports, creating a friendly and moving atmosphere. Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co gave the opening speech, then representatives from Hue, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Danang shared their memories.

With the passing of time, the once lively generation of Central Vietnamese youth is now growing old, making room for a modern, progressive generation. Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co said: “After 43 years, it is wonderful that we can still meet, but time is running out. Each of us takes part in the reunion with different feelings. We only need to live beautiful and simple lives, not removed from the lives of the people, and unafraid of barriers, because barriers arise due to barriers in our hearts. Let them come naturally with living optimism and generously dedicate their values to life. The 'beautiful life' of our Movement will certainly leave a beautiful impression on today’s young people forever.”

Attendees then went to Thuan An beach where the Student Federation for Liberation of Central Vietnam was founded 55 years ago. According to Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, a suggestion has been submitted to the local authorities that a memorial should be set up there, to teach future generations about the glorious, heroic past of their ancestors, who sacrificed their youth and even their lives for the ideals of Peace, Independence and a United Fatherland. It will help them determine their own roles in the new stage of the revolution and help them share their intellect and abilities with their homeland, in order to build a better future for Vietnam.
