What is Biotechnology?
Biotechnology is the high-tech science that specializes in the study of living organisms, such as animals, plants, micro-organisms and so on and uses special equipment and processes to create and develop various products, such as medicines, foods, fertilizers and breeding aids. In practice, this major teaches the skills relating to everyday life activities, our health, safety, production capability and our ethics.
DTU Biotechnology students are taught by experienced lecturers, including eight Ph.Ds, who graduated from well-known universities in Germany, Japan and Korea and are currently conducting intensive studies in the fields of Molecular Biology, Molecular Plant Physiology, Molecular Microbiology, Natural Product Chemistry, Genetics, and Entomology.
Over the last 10 years, DTU has been constructing the Molecular Biology Lab, which conforms to the international standards required for Molecular Microbiology and Biological Chemistry and Genetic studies.

Variety of career choices
To meet professional demands, DTU teaches basic and advanced skills in Biotechnology, including Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Molecular Diagnosis and Molecular Biology.
In addition, DTU Biotechnology students learn how to communicate in English, how to prepare research papers, work in teams and in the local community, develop an entrepreneurial spirit and protect the environment.
Biotechnology graduates will be able to choose a variety of jobs with attractive salaries and benefits, as:
• Process Engineers in pharmaceutical or food production
• Biotechnology specialists in the processing of agricultural products, other foods and fish
• Researchers in microbiology, plant biotechnology and animal biotechnology,
• Specimen Processing Analysts
• Medical examiners at centers of biology and high-tech agriculture, pharmaceutical plants, hospitals, provincial departments of Science and Technology and so on.
In 2018, DTU will award the following scholarships to Biotechnology applicants:
• DTU scholarships worth 1 to 5 million vnd for applicants with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average three points higher than the minimal admissions grade.
• Scholarships of 500,000 to 2 million vnd for applicants with a High School transcript of 22 or more.
• Scholarships for students from Gifted High Schools, of 5 million vnd each for the first year of study, for all applicants in Biotechnology with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average of 18 or with a High School transcript of 22 or more.
• Direct enrollment preferential scholarships, worth 5 million vnd in the first year, for applicants in Biotechnology major who have already won consolation prizes in National Skilled Student contests or National Science and Technology contests.
