The leadership of the university plans to offer a new major in Law to satisfy ever increasing enrollment requirements and, at the same time, conform to governmental legal and administrative reforms to broaden the education of our students. There is currently a severe shortage of lawyers in Vietnam, and most of them can only be found in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. Law graduates will have many job opportunities to choose from. Studying Law at DTU, students will hone complex analytic, persuasion and language skills to quickly adapt to legal careers on graduation.
Then, if they meet the professional standards and conditions set by the government, as qualified lawyers, they will become involved in a wide variety of tasks, such as legal counseling, the editing of documents, organizing negotiations on legal matters and representing and protecting clients’ interests in court proceedings.

To broaden the knowledge of the law as Vietnam develops, Vietnam must continually amend and supplement the legal framework in order to build a stronger foundation for lawyers to practice more effectively. Applicants will then be more motivated to pursue this major and finally be equipped to practice law in Vietnam or internationally.
DTU will provide students with training in professional ethics, and ensure that, as practicing lawyers, they will all contribute to promoting civilization, fair play, the democratic freedom of citizens, the legal rights and interests of private individuals, agencies and companies, socioeconomic development and the rule of law in Socialist Vietnam, according to Article 3 of the government Law on Lawyers. The Law major will teach basic to advanced topics in a variety of fields, from marriage, family and criminal law, to making accusations and denouncements and specialized legal jargon.
Lecturers of the Faculty of Law are experts who have previously worked in legislative, executive and judicial positions, or in research institutes in Vietnam and abroad. They will provide the orientation to allow students to practice their professional skills and advise them on how to manage legal cases, plan extracurricular activities, through students clubs and so on, attend court sessions and arrange legal forums.
Graduates will be able to choose jobs in state agencies, social services and companies, as Lawyers, Judges, Verifiers, Court Clerks, Investigators, Prosecutors, Examiners, Inspector, Notaries, Councilors, Auctioneers, expert Legal Bailiffs and HR professionals.
In 2018, DTU will award the following scholarships to the Law major (Lawyer) applicants:
- Scholarships of 500,000 to 2 million vnd for applicants with a High School transcript of 22 or more.
- DTU scholarships worth 1 to 5 million vnd for applicants with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average three points higher than the minimal admissions grade.
- Scholarships for students from Gifted High Schools, of 5 million vnd each for the first year of study, for all applicants in Law major with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average of 18 or with a High School transcript of 22 or more.
- Direct enrollment preferential scholarships, worth 5 million vnd in the first year, for applicants in Law major who have already won consolation prizes in National Skilled Student contests or National Science and Technology contests.
