First Course Graduates of CSU Advanced Program

Highly-qualified graduate Civil Engineers and Architects from the first class of the advanced CSU program, who studied from 2012 to 2016, are now being pursued by many local companies.

The CSU students were educated using the latest curricula and teaching methods, from California State University in Civil Engineering and San Luis Obispo in Architecture, taught by foreign lecturers and received international Certificates of Completion, which qualify them to continue their studies in America. Meanwhile they are highly regarded for their knowledge, professional skills and ability to meet the strict demands of the local market.

Ninety-three percent of the Architecture students and one hundred percent of the Civil Engineering students graduated on May 21st. Their high quality theses and English presentation skills were much admired at the Graduation Ceremony. The theses were developed using real models and 3D software at the DTU studio and by experimentation. Reality and experimentation are now used in the international programs at DTU, which differentiates them from conventional methods used in Vietnam.

In their graduation projects, the CSU Architecture students based their theses on international building standards, combined with some special Vietnamese ones, to develop their new construction projects, using structural analysis software, such as ETABS and SAP2000 to increase reliability and accuracy. They carefully analyzed the direct and indirect impact on natural and social factors, using design analysis software, such as Revit, Sefaira, Calc and PVWatts. This enabled them to come up with many novel, sustainable and environmentally friendly designs.

“All the graduation projects by the CSU students in Construction and Architecture were conducted entirely in English and met MOET requirements,” explained Mr. Luong Xuan Hieu, Vice-Dean of the DTU International School. “The quality of the projects demonstrate their clever choices of topics and the fact that they are proposing solutions to new issues, with an emphasis on research, analysis and consideration of real life situations to propose the best construction ideas. The students are impressive, creating and developing their own analysis software tailored to their project. For example, Pham Quang Trung and Doan Le Quang, from the K17CSU XDD class, devised software to analyze the internal forces in the structure of columns and beams in a high-rise building for their project entitled ‘Structural Analysis and Construction Methods at the Ocean Plaza Hotel in Son Tra, Danang, using Python.”

As proof of their qualifications and skills, the CSU graduates of Civil Engineering and Architecture were invited for interviews by the Eyecadcher Company from Denmark and by Maeda Vietnam from Japan. Many of them will be offered jobs.
