DTU students give a musical performance

DTU students opened the event with a musical performance that delighted the audience.

The gala was an opportunity for those interested in technology to meet, make new friends and share their experiences in the open-source software of Vietnam. On behalf of the Vietnam Free and Open-Source Software Association, Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang detailed the establishment and history of open-source software in Vietnam and some of its applications in community development projects. He also launched the 2013 Creative Summer contest for students to create and develop new open-source software applications.

At the event, students had a chance to become familiar with some of the new Vietnamese open-source software applications, such as: OpenStack, NukeViet, OpenRay, OpenRoad, Fedora-Hanoi Community Space and the “Go kien” project.

Although the open-source software association has only recently come to Danang, it drew the attention of many people involved in software technology locally. DTU is recognized for its significant contributions to software development in Danang. Recently, DTU officially signed a collaborative agreement with the Vietnam Free and Open-Source Software Club in research, application and improvement projects. It is fortunate that DTU can already offer highly-rated educational software programs to meet local demands.
