On the morning of August 12th, 2009, the 2009 Informatics Festival was officially opened at Software Park in Danang.
Attendees included Mr. Le Cong, Co-Chairman of SEG Vietnam, Mr. Pham Kim Son, Manager of the Danang Department of Information and Media, Professor Anthony Lattanze from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), representatives of local authorities, students from DTU and Van Lang Universities, as well as local and national press and media representatives.
In his speech, Mr. Le Cong Co said: “SEG Vietnam has organized this festival to recognize and celebrate the development of the Information Technology industry, particularly in Danang but throughout Vietnam also. The festival also opens new doors for cooperation between I/T training centers at leading universities worldwide”.
Also at the Ceremony, Dr. John Kang, Asian Director of CMU in Asia, announced the establishment of ten new scholarship programs worth $1,000 each offered by the Boeing Aircraft Corporation to Asian students who are accepted for study at CMU.
This was the first Informatics Festival to be held in Danang and it was also the end of the first year of the academic partnership between SEG Vietnam and CMU.
