DTU was recently highly-ranked in the QS, CWUR, URAP, Webometrics and Shanghai ranking systems and made its first appearance in the 2021 edition of the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), published by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. The university’s Electrical & Electronic Engineering major was ranked in the 401-500 band but number one in Vietnam, Computer Science was ranked 301-400 and Mathematics 401-500.

Dr. Dinh Van Phuc, from the DTU Institute of Fundamental Science & Applications, lives in Dong Nai, famous for the Tan Trieu pomelo, grown in the Vinh Cuu district. He noticed that the people there only process the flesh of the pomelos, but leave the peel as waste. In his research into environmentally-friendly materials, Dr. Dinh Van Phuc experimented with the peel, which contains mostly cellulose, pectin and other organic compounds

On June 24, DTU held the 2021 Student Scientific Research conference online, to select qualified papers for university awards and recommendations for ministerial awards. Ninety-three papers were submitted and the twelve best were presented at the conference

Due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak in Danang, DTU implemented online education and now holds remote Thesis/Graduation Project Defense committees, to ensure timely graduation. DTU has spent 30 billion VND on online equipment, a yearly subscription to Zoom and other real-time education and simulation software.

The DTU Admissions Board announced the 2021 admissions criteria, based on transcript scores and the 2021 VNUHCM Academic Performance test: 1. Generally: A three-subject average score of 18 points or more. 2. Nursing: A three-subject score of 19.5, or 12th grade graduates with honors or graduation grades of at least 6.5.
