On Saturday mornings, the DTU hall at 182 Nguyen Van Linh is crowded with students gathering to study in groups. Arranging tables and chairs to create an outdoor study environment has increased study quality for the “DTU’s storks”.
The new student study environment at 182 Nguyen Van Linh
Together with the credit-based study system (which was first applied in 2006), the DTU Board of Rectors has now focused more attention on the role of the student. As a result, the necessity for self-study and individual research is now first priority. Group study is considered to be most effective way, however that entails many other factors such an adequate budget, materials, study space and so on.
Starting in the second semester of the 2011-2012’s academic year, DTU has used the front hall at 182 Nguyen Van Linh as an open study environment for student group study and discussion. This new model has drawn more students to become involved in their studies and research.
Ms. Trinh Thi Thanh Thao, a student of D17KDN1B said: “The Group Study method requires us to work together. As a result, it’s a problem to find a good place to study, as it’s not convenient for us to study at someone’s house or at a coffee shop. So DTU’s new study environment is our best option to study in groups because it is very advantageous for all. We are able search together for information on the internet using Wifi or at the library”.
Mr. Vo Quoc Hung from K15KDN3 added: “This outdoor study environment is very useful because we can talk in groups without disturbing others”.
Hopefully, this new open environment will be one of the best opportunities for all DTU students to benefit from.
