On the morning of January 9, 2025, DTU celebrated Vietnamese Students’ Day and the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam Student Association (founded January 9, 1950) with a warm and emotional reunion for those who were once youths or students involved in the liberation movement of Mid-Central Vietnam during the resistance against the US.
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman, was deeply moved to
meet his former comrades of many a life-or-death struggle
Hero of Labor and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, who (from 1963 to 1966) served as Chairman of the Student Federation for the Liberation of Mid-Central Vietnam and is now DTU Chairman, expressed deep emotion upon reuniting with comrades from his youth, from their time of ideals and enthusiasm. After so many years of peace and separation, this gathering at DTU became a special occasion for former comrades - from Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and all the way to Ho Chi Minh City - to reminisce of their glorious times with their get-up-and-go.

The atmosphere at the gathering was one of indescribable emotions. Tight embraces, hands that once held guns now trembling from age, and tears flowing down, all full of joy, emotion, and happiness at reuniting with comrades who fought side by side during the most brutal years. After nearly fifty years of separation and what seemed like lost contact, memories and comradeship were now rekindled in a warm and intimate space.

The gathering was an opportunity to express gratitude for the immense sacrifices and contributions of previous generations and a meaningful reminder to preserve and apply the noble historical values of the nation.
