Advisor Dr. Yukata Hirai

Advisor Dr. Yukata Hirai said: “Japan and Vietnam have a lot in common, our strong cultures, respect for others, and a love of tea and delicious food. Looking back on our historical relations, Japan set up trading headquarters in Hoi An in the 1500s and, in 1905, Phan Boi Chau launched the Dong Du movement and sent talented young Vietnamese students to Japan for the training and development of manpower in this country.

Today, VJIET is more than a bridge between Vietnam and Japan because it enables Vietnamese to study, improve their expertise, and work in Japan. I hope that our DTU VJIET students who love studying the Japanese language and culture will have access to even more attractive opportunities in the future.”

The welcoming ceremony was a very special event for all DTU K29 students from the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Engineering and Technology program.

Dr. Le Vinh An said: “The DTU Vietnam-Japan Institute of Engineering & Technology was established in July 2018 as the focal point for cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, in education, research, technology transfer and the development of the highest-quality human resources. Students of the program employ the unique skills that they were taught and practiced, using a Japanese project-design methodology, based on the creative attributes of monozukuri, and to the dedication and hospitality of omotenashi. Such partnerships between educational institutions and businesses are becoming more common today, as universities provide foundational knowledge and business experience then broadens student practical skills and career spirit. We hope that local Japanese companies will be available to collaborate with us.”

Quang Thanh Nha majors in Nursing and said: “In order to achieve our objectives, my colleagues and I spent much time researching which careers would be the most suitable for us. We were lucky to receive advice from our lecturers and older students about the Vietnam-Japan program, which orientated and enabled us to make the correct choices independently. On behalf of the new students, I’d like to thank the university, the VJIET lecturers and our Japanese business partners for their care, which will motivate us to conquer the height of knowledge and ultimately realize our dreams.”
