DTU Welcomes a Delegation from Chungbuk National University in Korea

On October 11, DTU met on campus with Chungbuk National University representatives from South Korea. Attendees included Dr. Ki-Seok Choi, head of the Korean delegation, Dr. Bui Kim Luan, Vice-Rector of the DTU School of Hospitality and Tourism, and lecturers and students from both universities.

Dr. Bui Kim Luan said: “One of our main objectives is to improve the quality of education at DTU by expanding academic exchanges with other universities worldwide, and we hope that our relationship with Chungbuk National University will prove to be sustainable and long-term, through our joint training activities at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, international internships and student exchanges will expand our knowledge, practical experience and the opportunity to learn more about the Korean culture and people.”
 
Chungbuk National University presented information about their online postgraduate program and admission requirements and procedures. Vietnamese students with a Topik 4 certificate  of Korean language proficiency or higher are eligible to receive up to 80% tuition support, and additional support with monthly living expenses, visa applications and special research projects with professors. 
 
The 2+2 student exchange program for foreign language students was also discussed and the Koreans then answered questions from DTU students who plan to study there.

Dr. Choi said: “Chungbuk National University has outstanding strength in the natural sciences and in technology, specifically in biotechnology, the food industry, IT, computer science, chemistry, electrical engineering, environmental sciences, physics, and materials science. In particular, the postgraduate programs at Chungbuk National University give support to international students, such as: free tuition for postgraduate students, support with monthly living expenses, support through research projects with professors, and support with visa application for admitted students.”

Dr. Ho Thanh Tam, Head of the Department of Biotechnology in the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, who has studied and worked at Chungbuk National University, said: “Chungbuk  always creates the most favorable conditions for international students to study and conduct research, and for Vietnamese students particularly, with benefit from support on tuition fees, living expenses and study conditions, with the opportunity to learn, conduct research, and experience the Korean culture and way of life.”
