Cultural Exchange with Panpacific University in the Philippines

On June 27, DTU held a cultural exchange with Panpacific University in the Philippines, which is part of the P2A Journey program to enable students from universities in the network to experience the cultures, languages and people in various countries while, at the same time, strengthening ties among the ASEAN communities.

Both universities outlined the cultural attributes of their two countries. DTU students presented details on the traditional Ao Dai attire and appetizing Vietnamese dishes, such as bread, pho, Hue noodles, salted coffee, and egg coffee, about the Tet holiday and Danang tourist attractions, including the Linh Ung Pagoda, and Ba Na Hills. 
 
Panpacific University talked about the national flag of the Philippines, which symbolizes freedom, equality, patriotism, courage and solidarity and Family, considered to be the mainstay of life by most Filipinos. In addition they gave details about their native language, Tagalog; traditional dances, Tinkikling, Carinosa, and Pandanggo Sa ilaw; and the Sinulog, Panagbenga and Ati-Atihan festivals. Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice-Provost, then awarded P2A Journey certificates to Panpacific University students.

Micaela Picardal Tugade, from Panpacific said: “Yesterday, we visited the Han market, the Linh Ung pagoda and tried the local Danang food. This is a beautiful city with many unique cultural features and I’ve had several interesting experiences here. I was also impressed by the facilities and the dynamic and modern educational environment at DTU. We thank you all for your warm welcome and hospitality and hope to return soon.”
