2023 DTU School of Hospitality and Tourism Student Research Conference

On May 12, the DTU School of Hospitality and Tourism held a Student Research Conference, to promote research activities among students. After grading, the twelve best projects, from the faculties of International Hospitality & Restaurant and International Travel and Tourism, were selected for presentation.

DTU Students of Hospitality and Tourism present their projects 
 
The selected projects had to be tightly structured and demonstrate appropriate research methods. Most of the topics this year proved to be highly practical and offered specific solutions to improving services at specific tourist locations. These included:
 
- Marketing strategies to attract foreign tourists to the Bistecca restaurant at the New Orient Hotel in Danang
- An evaluation of factors affecting booking the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa through travel agents
- Factors affecting customer satisfaction with food service quality at the Grand Mercure Danang Hotel
- Factors influencing the choice of Vietnamese tourists selecting Hoi An for their holidays 
- Tourist reaction to using environmentally friendly products in Danang

The best research reports receive awards
 
The judges expressed their appreciation of the quality of the research reports and awarded:
 
- A first prize to: “Assessing the competitiveness of marine tourism in Danang”
- A second to: “Marketing strategies to attract foreign tourists to the Bistecca restaurant at the New Orient Hotel in Danang”
- Two thirds to: “Factors influencing the choice of Vietnamese tourists selecting Hoi An for their holidays” and “Research on factors affecting customer satisfaction with the quality of service at the Brilliant Hotel”
 
Huynh Thi A Ly, of K25PSUDLL8, said: “Getting involved in research projects enables us to learn more about new topics and apply that knowledge to solve real-world problems. It also helps us to focus on essential skills, such as data analysis and synthesis, referencing documents, planning, making presentations, and so on. This practical experience is vital as we learn more about our profession and gather more information about future career opportunities.”
