A space filled with artistic colors lightened up the entire hallway of block D at DTU’s Hoa Khanh Nam campus in the afternoon of June 13, 2022. It was an exposition of end-of-course works for Basic Drawing 2 by students of the DTU Faculty of Architecture & Applied Arts. Let us immerse ourselves in the colors and lively images under the creative viewpoint of the Architecture students while learning about the learning process that led to the creation of each of these wonderful works.
DTU students and their end-of-course works
Basic Drawing 2 is part of the curriculums for Graphic Design and Fashion Design. The course teaches the students research and a mastery of the laws of visual perception and the most basic elements of visual art: color and image styling (strokes, block arrays) in order to create visual art.
Even though they are but first-year students, they showed their creativity and sense for esthetics in each drawn line. After the works were graded by the lecturers, the drawing “FES” by Nguyen Vo Ha An (K27ADH2) and “Care” by Ho Thi Thu Thao (K27ADH7) were the audience’s favorites and were bought right away.
“I knew the others in the course are really good, but at this exhibition I was extremely impressed and surprised at the quality of the works,” Ha An explains. “Thanks to the devoted guidance of the course lecturer prof. Nguyen Tien Viet, we gradually progressed and did our best in our work. There are a huge lot of beautiful works, in layout, color, and content. I was quite surprised when people wanted to buy my drawing and I hesitated a very long time before deciding to sell. For me, this is a memorable milestone in my life."

Because of the enthusiasm of the students at this first exhibition, the Faculty of Architecture & Applied Arts promised to continue and extend the format of the exhibition to other courses than Basic Drawing 2, such as Comic Design, in future years.
