According to the Young University Rankings 2022 released by the U.K. magazine Times Higher Education (THE) in Feb 2022, Duy Tan University stands 122nd in the ranking, which includes 539 institutions.
The four best young Vietnamese universities
The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings list the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger. The 2022 ranking includes 539 universities, up from 475 in 2021. A further 251 institutions are listed with “reporter” status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet THE eligibility criteria to receive a rank.
This year, Vietnam has four universities in the Young University Rankings 2022, up from two last year, including Ton Duc Thang University at 98th, Duy Tan University at 122, (both join the ranking for the first time this year), Vietnam National University, Hanoi in the 301-350 range, and the Vietnam National University, HCMC in the 401+ range.
A French institution - Paris Sciences et Lettres - PSL Research University Paris - takes the number one spot for the first time this year, making it the first time that an Asian institution has not led the table since 2017.

India and Turkey now lead the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings in terms of representation, with 40 universities each. The UK shares third place with Iran: both have 37 universities. Taiwan has 17 universities; Japan has 16; Malaysia has 13; China has 11; South Korea has 7; America has 6, Vietnam has 4; Indonesia has 3 and Thailand has 3 universities in the list.
The THE Young University Rankings is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings, but the weightings are recalibrated to reflect the missions of young universities. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (30%), Research (30%), Citations (30%), International outlook (7.5%) and Knowledge transfer (2.5%).
