The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, or DAAD) was founded in 1925 in Heidelberg and sponsors international academic exchanges of students and scientists. DAAD represents 231 academic institutions in Germany and has 70 representative offices in sixty countries, supporting 1.9 million academics in and outside Germany over the years. DAAD awards scholarships and encourages German universities to promote the study of the German language abroad and focus on the improvement of education in developing countries, by advising them on curricula, development policies and diplomacy.

“Last year, the world underwent huge turmoil due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Hase-Bergen. “However, DAAD has steadily continued to extend international academic relationships, especially with leading universities in Vietnam. We always strive to forge new partnerships here and locate outstanding students to work on research projects in Germany. We hope that some DTU lecturers and students with go there to study, research and work to make significant contributions to the development of our country too.”
