26th University Anniversary and 2020-2021 Opening Ceremony

On November 11, DTU commemorated its 26th anniversary and the opening of the new academic year. Invitees, business representatives and alumni enjoyed the event together and looked back on the challenges and achievements over the university’s 26 years of development.
 
Following the principle: “All for students’ studies, research and careers to meet regional and international demands.”, DTU has become fully autonomous, built spacious modern campuses, improved the standard of education, adopted the world’s most advanced educational methods and made significant contributions to society in general.

Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co beats the drum to welcome in the new academic year 
 
Hero of Labor and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, Chairman of the DTU Board of Trustees, said “We were born into the harsh region of Central Vietnam, so we clearly understood the importance of education to escape hunger, poverty and underdevelopment, and wanted to relieve the Central Vietnamese of their hardship. Since then, DTU has focused its investments on developing human resources dedicated to our university and country. At the outset, we met with unending difficulties and challenges but, thanks to the dedication, willpower and efforts of our staff and lecturers, DTU has matured. We have now made many significant achievements, enrolled 108 thousand students for postgraduate and undergraduate studies; graduated 65,571 PhDs, Masters, engineers, architects, pharmacists and Bachelors; and become one of the top 500 Asian universities. DTU is always grateful to our national and local leadership, to the parents who trustingly recommended us to their students, and to our administrative staff and lecturers, who have always supported us with all their might, to make DTU what it is today.”
 
 
In 2019-2020, achieved the following:
 
- It became one of the top 500 Asian universities
- The President of Vietnam awarded DTU a Labor Order First Class 
- DTU Provost, Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, was awarded a Labor Order Third Class for his outstanding work in education from 2014 to 2019
- DTU received ABET accreditation for three majors: Network Engineering, Management Information Systems and Electrical Engineering
- 2,562 papers were published in ISI-indexed journals and 115 in Scopus journals.
- Online classes were successfully implemented during the pandemic, students continued their studies and graduated on schedule
- The DTU-Vent was developed, for use in medical emergencies and to treat Covid-19 patients 
- The eCPR system, for cardiopulmonary resuscitation first aid training, won a Sao Khue award
 
New majors were offered, in Artificial Intelligence, Fashion Design, Automotive Engineering Technology, Automation and Control Engineering Technology, Digital Business, Real Estate Business Administration, Travel Resource Management, Event & Entertainment Management, the Korean Language, and Architectural Heritage Conservation & Tourism.

DTU introduces member schools
 
DTU announced the founding the Schools of:
 
- Medicine & Pharmacy
- Foreign Languages
- Technology
- Computer Engineering
- Economics
 
Agreements were signed with local businesses on careers, internships, education and research, including LG Electronics, 24Group Investments and the Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development in Danang.
 
Mr. Kim Jong-bok, Product Management Director of the LG Car Electrical Component Solutions R&D Center in Vietnam, said, “Information Technology is undergoing the most rapid changes and progress of all but products discovered today can be obsolete by tomorrow. To create new technology, we need inquisitive staff who don’t shy away from challenges. In partnering with DTU, we know that the university invests heavily in education and especially in graduating IT professionals. I am sure that, with our support in training, internships and careers, we all benefit greatly.”

DTU awards a laptop to the leading applicant, Nguyen Thi Khanh Chi
 
DTU awarded a full scholarship and a laptop to Nguyen Thi Khanh Chi, who scored 28 in his 2020 HSGE and will study Business Administration in Vietnam for an American Keuka College degree. DTU awarded 193 full and partial scholarships worth 16.5 billion VND in total and specially reduced tuition fees for K26 students affected by the pandemic and storm damage in Central Vietnam, worth 13 billion VND.
 
 “After 26 years of educational, personnel and research development, DTU can now enjoy our achievements,” said DTU Provost, Dr. Le Nguyen Bao. “DTU is now ranked in the top 500 Asian universities, with 5 out of 22 of our researchers included in the world’s one hundred thousand most influential, according to the PLoS Biology Journal. New practical products have been launched, such as the DTU-Vent ventilator, to treat Covid-19 patients, and the eCPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation first aid training system, and they are both testimonials to our university’s expanding research capability.
 
“The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the storms and floods in Central Vietnam have had a huge impact on everyone but, meanwhile, student attendance has been outstanding. Students must persevere and work hard to be eligible for the best careers on graduation. The university and our lecturers will be always there to create the ideal environment and the opportunity to help you complete your studies on schedule.”
