All for our students
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU’s founder, emphasized that, over the past 26 years, the DTU faculty, administrators and staff have been working hard on the sustainable development of the University, but that the new academic year is facing several ongoing serious problems. The Coronavirus pandemic has spread globally since its emergence last Tet and, meanwhile, the people in Central region have also suffered from an intolerable loss of life and property, caused by the recent devastating typhoons and floods. Meanwhile, the University has focused on its continuing improvement of high-speed communication lines and broadband internet to deliver a flexible online education to all 25 thousand PhD, postgraduate and Bachelor students simultaneously.
Since 1994, DTU has always stressed transparency, a scientific outlook and humanity in education and administration. For several years, the DTU motto has been: “All for student studies, research and careers to meet regional and international demand.”. During the lull in the pandemic in early June, DTU worked with the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper to hold its annual Job Fair, and 2,039 vacancies for new graduates were filled. The University also held a ceremony for over two thousand postgraduate and regular Bachelor graduates, including DTU’s first 25 with international Masters of Nursing degrees.
Message on the University development
Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost, explained that although enrollment problems around the country have become overwhelming, DTU will still met MoET’s previous targets, steadily improving inflow quality and continuing to improve the standard of education to meet the demand for highly-qualified graduates in Danang, the Central Vietnamese provinces and throughout Vietnam.
Over the past 5 years, DTU has enrolled 28,941 research, post-graduate and freshman students and graduated a total of 26,000 PhDs and Masters, pharmacists, engineers, architects and Bachelors. Over 95% find employment in Vietnam or abroad within one year of graduation.
In 2017, DTU became the first private university in Vietnam to receive a Certificate of National Education Quality. DTU has become one of the top twenty universities in Vietnam and the first private institution to be ABET accredited for education quality, in Network Engineering, Management Information Systems, and Electrical & Electronic Engineering. DTU was one of four Vietnamese universities with the most international publications in 2018 and 2019, ranked 451 in Asia by QS World University. DTU became one of the top 500 Asian universities in 2020.
DTU was awarded Third, Second and First-Class Labor Orders by the State President for its achievements in the promotion of education; Distinguished Teacher. Le Cong Co was named “Hero of Labor” by the Deputy-President, in recognition of his sustained contributions to the development of education; DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao was honored with a Third-class Labor Medal for his outstanding achievements in education; and many DTU researchers received Certificates of Merit for their excellent contributions in 2020.
“The DTU founder gave the devoted and trustworthy leadership that made the university strong,” affirmed Associate Professor Tran Dinh Thien, former head of the Vietnam Institute of Economics. “He convinced academics and the authorities alike to pledge their support, to help stabilize the university and, at the same time, stride steadfastly ahead during the most difficult times.”
