On June 3, DTU successfully held its 8th Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. Mr. Le Anh, Deputy-Secretary and Chairman of People’s Committee of the Hai Chau District; Distinguished Teacher and Hero of Labour Le Cong Co, DTU party committee secretary and DTU Board Chairman and 70 delegates representing the 225 party members of the university attended.
In his opening speech, Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co said: “The DTU 8th Party Congress takes place at the time of the Covid-19 outbreak, which has negatively impacted all industries and organizations, including DTU. I hope that the DTU Party Committee will responsibly continue to leverage its advantages, overcome its shortcomings, strive to become an even stronger Party committee and work closely with the Party and people to make significant accomplishments over the forthcoming 5-year term.”
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co is elected as the 2020-2025 DTU party committee secretary
During 2015-2020, the Party Committee exceeded its objectives by coming up with ways to improve Party branch leadership skills, to dispel conflict and take on a pioneering role. In this way, the Party branch helped DTU become one of the best universities in Vietnam, with international recognition.
Based on the achievements of 2015-2020, the DTU party committee set strategic goals for 2020-2025. The DTU Party branch will continue to improve leadership skills to tackle the new tasks, enhance management efficiency and pioneer the drafting of strict regulations to improve DTU’s status.
In order to accomplish this, three to five Professorships and Associate Professorships will be confered annually; at least 3% of the lecturers will successfully defend their PhD theses, with twenty to twenty-five staff graduating; 40-50% of party members will conduct research; 80% to 100% of lecturers will meet the required English language standards; 100% of lecturers will establish long-term relationships with local companies; 100% of party members will follow the words of Ho Chi Minh, especially in building the Duy Tan culture, the Trade Union and Youth Union. The DTU Student Union will make sustained efforts to be recognized as "An Excellent Unit" for each of the 5 consecutive years.
Based on the saying: "Actions speak louder than words ", the DTU Party Committee will play a leading, pioneering role in ensuring that all party members and lecturers achieve their individual goals, in building a strong Duy Tan Education Group, helping DTU to enter the list of the top 400 Asian universities and the world's top 1,000, aided by several newly-accredited ABET programs.
The Congress elects a 15-member Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term
The delegates elected 15 members to the DTU Party Executive board committee for 2020-2025. Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co was reelected as Secretary of the Party Committee and 5 delegates and 1 alternate delegate were selected to represent the DTU Party Committee to attend in the 6th Hai Chau District Party Congress for 2020-2025.
The next period will create many new opportunities and challenges for DTU and other academic institutions, throughout the country. With solidarity and the unremitting effort of all lecturers and staff under strong leadership, DTU will work to achieve the “Three breakthroughs” and “Five bonds”, by improving team building, international collaborations, corporate partnerships, quality assurance, student management, security, finances and policies to exceed requirements and achieving outstanding results.
