On Sept 16th, DTU held the 2018-2019 opening ceremony and welcomed the new K24 students. On this special occasion, the University was also awarded the 2016-2017 Emulation flag of the Government and a Vietnamese flag that flew at Pearson Reef in the Spratly Islands from soldiers there. The city’s People's Committee Deputy Chairman Dang Viet Dung attended the event.

In the academic year 2018-2019, DTU enrolled 5,500 students.
At the ceremony, DTU granted full scholarships worth 490 million vnd each to the top seven new students entering the On-Site Study-Abroad programs, in collaboration with Keuka College and Troy University in the US. Besides, sixteen valedictorians in 2018 and outstanding students were given scholarships and gifts.
