Because of urgent, increasing demand, the government has approved a master plan to upgrade the national healthcare network until 2020. Targets include totals of 55,247 doctors, 10,887 pharmacists, 83,851 nurses and 65,000 technicians.
DTU makes agreements with international partners to enhance Health Science education
DTU focuses on teaching advanced Health Science programs to graduate highly-qualified doctors, odontoid-stemmatologists, pharmacists and nurses. Special rooms are fully equipped with lifelike dummies to practice diagnosis and treatment before working in a real hospital. The 18 Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Pathophysiology, Immunology, Microbiology, Parasite and Nursing laboratories all meet the necessary safety standards and are equipped with the most advanced equipment.

Recently, the number of Health Science applicants has increased significantly, together with average admission scores
DTU currently partners with the University of Pittsburgh, a leading university in medical research, the University of Illinois in Chicago, which offers the most medical and pharmaceutical programs in the US, Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, in Israel.
In Nursing, DTU has recently partnered with regional universities well-known for Nursing education to help lecturers and students broaden their knowledge and skills, including:
• Burapha University, Khon Kaen University and Mahidol University in Thailand
• Sun-Moon University and Dong-A University in South Korea
• The Seirei Social Welfare Community in Japan and the local Kinki branch of the Japanese National Council for the Elderly and Blind
Adopting advanced teaching methods
DTU has also introduced the Center of Visualization & Simulation, which employs 3D virtual reality applications to modernize teaching methods and improve medical education. The center created the “3D Virtual Reality Application for the Human body for use in Health Sciences Teaching, Training, and Research”, which won first prize at the 2017 Vietnamese Talent Awards and is highly regarded for its contribution to the teaching of medicine. Overall, 3,924 different simulations have been developed to exactly model various human Vietnamese anatomical characteristics.

DTU partners with 18 local hospitals, where students work with experienced medical staff and practice with patients. These include the Danang Hospital, the Danang C Hospital, the 17th Military Zone Hospital, the 199th Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security and the Quang Nam Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital.
In 2018, DTU awards the following scholarships to Health Sciences applicants:
- DTU scholarships worth 1 to 5 million VND for applicants in Nursing major with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average three points higher than the minimal admissions grade.
- Students from Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa will each be awarded 1 million vnd when they enroll in Nursing major.
- Scholarships of 500,000 to 2 million vnd for applicants with a High School transcript of 22 or more.
- Scholarships for students from Gifted High Schools, of 5 million VND each for the first year of study, for all applicants in Health Sciences with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average of 18 or more.
- Direct enrollment preferential scholarships, worth 5 million VND in the first year, for applicants who have won
° consolation prizes (or higher) in National skilled student contests,
° consolation prizes (or higher) in National science and technology contests
and applying for DTU’s Heath Sciences major.
