Innovative Empirical Learning Environment at DTU

It is no coincidence that university and even high school students in the US, Sweden, Germany and some other developed countries can design microchips, grow mushrooms, raise chickens or program games before they graduate, potentially earning themselves giant incomes.

Universities and high schools around the world invest heavily in open laboratories where their students can freely explore their potential and their ambitions. Now, university applicants have discovered a private university in Central Vietnam offering a similar international educational environment and have been inspired to sign up in big numbers. That university is  DTU .

Studying Hospitality in rated practice hotels

DTU students can actually practice mixing drinks right on campus and the Hospitality program provides a practice hotel room, a reception area, a restaurant, a bar and a kitchen, fully equipped with utensils and ingredients for cooking and preparing drinks, which all meet the high standards of local upscale restaurants and hotels.

There are also two operational hotels, at 59 Ha Bong and the Epin hotel at 733 Nguyen Tat Thanh, with real guests, which allow students to experience a practical work environment as true employees. DTU has opened up the Startup Cafe in the Epin hotel, for practicing business management skills, preparing drinks, restaurant service, advertising and so on.

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism  also partners with several well-known five-star hotels, which offer internships, including the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the Furama Resort, to broaden student skills, observe an international working environment see how a business operates and learn from experts. After the interships, key positions may be available in established hotels and resorts in Danang and elsewhere.

The DTU GPP-Compliant Pharmacy and 3D Virtual Reality for Anatomical Studies

DTU pays special attention to teaching high-level Health Sciences programs to graduate much-needed doctors, pharmacists and nurses. Practice rooms are fully equipped with lifelike dummies so that students can practice making diagnoses and treating patients on them before working in a real hospital. Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories all meet the necessary safety standards and are equipped with the most advanced equipment.

DTU also developed the Center of Visualization & Simulation, which uses 3D virtual reality applications to modernize teaching methods and improve medical education. The center created the “3D Virtual Reality Application for the Human body for use in Health Sciences Teaching, Training, and Research”, which won several awards, such as the 2016 Young Intellectuals for Education prize, a first prize at the 2017 Vietnamese Talent Awards and a honorable mention at the 2018 Sao Khue Awards.

Another outstanding feature of Health Sciences at DTU is the introduction a university pharmacy on campus, which meets the Ministry of Health GPP standards.

Innovation in the modern Electricity and Electronics labs

Studying only theoretical Electricity and Electronics is especially impractical, so DTU has built a spacious workshop where students can research and innovate. It comprises five labs, for telecommunications, micro-processing, electronics, logic control and machinery, and two centers for lecturing and research within the Center for Electricity and Electronics (CEE) and the Center for Information Technology (CIT), all equipped to satisfy the requirements of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering lecturers and students. The Young Researchers club also meets to encourage and promote Nursing talent and expertise.

Products developed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering have been experimented with locally and won Young Innovation prizes

The DTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering has developed several impressive products, such as a robot that guides pedestrians across the street, for which the Youth Union was awarded the Young Innovation prize; a smart condom dispenser, in public experimental use in Danang; and a robot that verifies ship welds, now in use at Song Thu company.

Because of these practical, modern training laboratories in Hospitality, Health Sciences, Electrical Engineering, IT and Construction, DTU graduates can confidently begin careers at companies immediately.
