High School students Compete in English Eloquence Contest entitled “ASEAN Integration”

On March 31st DTU held an English Eloquence contest entitled "ASEAN Integration"  to celebrate the 2018 ASEAN Student Conference which will open at DTU soon. High school students from Danang and Quang Nam province participated.

The English Eloquence Contest
 
Six teams from the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Ngo Quyen High School, Hoang Hoa Tham High School, Nui Thanh High School in Danang; and Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Quang Nam competed in three sections, Introduction, Knowledge of ASEAN and Eloquence. The contest aimed at teaching high school students about ASEAN.

In the Knowledge of ASEAN section, contestants were asked about ASEAN history and key dates, and the best places to visit in ASEAN. Topics in the Eloquence section included the importance of learning English, friendship between ASIAN members and the individual cultures of ASEAN people.

On behalf of the organizers, DTU Vice-Provost Dr. Nguyen Tan Thang, said: “The objective was to improve the English skills of high school students, to enhance the quality of English teaching in high schools and allow the students to demonstrate their communication, eloquence and research skills in English, whereby talented students will be chosen for intensive training to participate in national and international English competitions.”

The Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted win a first prize 

The Organizers awarded a First prize worth 8 million dong to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, a Second worth 6 million dong to the Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted in Quang Nam. The Hoang Hoa Tham High School in Danang won a third prize worth 4 million dong. In addition, Nguyen Thi Thu Hang from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted was  awarded a Study Tour to visit an ASEAN country.
